Care & Maintenance
CARING FOR YOUR COCO WOLF PIECE – Can I hose down the fabric?
One of the best ways to keep fabrics looking good and to delay the need for deep or vigorous cleaning is to hose fabrics off on a monthly basis with clean water. This practice will help prevent dirt from becoming deeply embedded in the fabric and eliminate the need for more frequent vigorous cleanings. In most environments, a through cleaning will be needed every 2-3 years. Remember after hosing down the fabric to allow the fabric to air dry.
CARING FOR YOUR COCO WOLF PIECE – Won’t my furniture get dirty if I leave it outside all year round?
Although the outdoor fabrics we recommend are easy to keep clean, it is true that anything which is left outside for a prolonged period will attract particles of dirt and dust from the atmosphere. To solve this problem, we have developed covers for each piece we produce. These covers will also prevent moisture build up on cushions overnight.
CARING FOR YOUR COCO WOLF PIECE – How do I treat stubborn stains?
Chlorine bleach will not affect the coloration of the fibre and is therefore acceptable for stubborn stain removal. Chlorine bleach, strong chemicals, or harsh detergents will eventually affect the strength of any fibre or cloth, so we suggest a diluted solution of one part bleach to two parts water.
Thorough rinsing is essential.
Please note: Chlorine bleach is never recommended as a stain remover for printed fabrics, as it may affect the print. Professional cleaning is always recommended for tough stains.
FABRICS – Will they withstand the harsher outdoor conditions?
Coco Wolf only recommends using fabrics that are 100% solution-dyed acrylic yarns. Solution dying is the process of adding colour to acrylic fabrics during manufacturing while they are in a liquid state. This characteristic is the key to locking in colour, and for creating easy cleaning and a long life. These solution dyed acrylic yarns are woven into various types of fabrics, matching those that you would find specifically for the indoor market.
FABRICS – Will the fabric mildew?
100% solution-dyed acrylic fabrics, if kept clean will not mildew. One of the favoured characteristics of acrylic fibre is that it will not support the growth of mildew, as a natural fibre will. Mildew will and can grow on any surface that is dirty, so to keep your fabric from mildewing you must keep your fabric clean.
FABRICS – Do they dry quickly?
Because solution dyed fabrics are woven, they are also highly breathable, which is why they dry quickly with only air exposure. It’s also important to know that these fabrics are generally treated with a fluro-carbon finish, which enhances water repellency.
FRAMES – What stops the frame from rotting?
All Coco Wolf frames are made from solid Iroko wood, treated using the latest technology and methods from the marine industry. Our framework is constructed to the highest quality of finish and workmanship and is suitable for outdoor commercial use.
CUSHION INNER – What stops the foam filling with water?
The cushion inner is where the innovation of this product lies. Using Peltuxe fibre as the main source of padding, we have replaced the traditional felts and hairlocks. This inner meets all British fire regulations (BS5852). The beauty of this fibre is the comfort levels and how it reacts to water. When in contact with water, the fibre acts like a filter rather than like a sponge as is the case with traditional padding/foams.
INTERNAL & EXTERNAL HARDWARE – Won’t it rust and perish?
All internal and external hardware is of the highest quality and rustproof. All springs are galvanised. Unlike other outdoor furniture manufacturers who use an open coil zip which breaks down after prolonged outdoor exposure, we use a specially designed zip that remains corrosion free in outdoor technical applications where humidity, salt water, wind and sun, influence the zip performance.
